Bereavement Service Settld Announced as UK Winner at 2024 Start Up Awards

Nationwide bereavement notification service Settld has been named the top UK Mobile and Emerging Technologies StartUp of the Year at the 2024 UK StartUp Awards.

Settld, which became a service of The Estate Registry in June this year, was also selected as a national finalist in a separate category at the Startup Awards.

Over 800 startups from across the UK competed for national recognition in over thirty-five categories at the event, hosted at the Ideas Fest event in Hertfordshire.

Luke Cheadle, Head of Operations at The Estate Registry, which owns Settld, said: “We are delighted to see Settld recognised in these awards. Congratulations to all those who took part in the competition.

“Our purpose is to simplify end-of-life admin and to be a strong voice for bereaved consumers everywhere. Recognition by the judges gives us fresh ambition to make things easier for all families dealing with the death of a loved one.”

Vicky Wilson, who founded Settld four years ago and is now Chief Customer Officer at The Estate Registry said: “This award is a real testament to the hard work, dedication and compassion of our team. We are thrilled to be recognised at the UK StartUp Awards.

“Settld was born from personal experience of loss and out of frustration at the difficulty of tying up loose ends with service providers. As part of The Estate Registry, we are continuing to build on our services for those who struggle to navigate end-of-life admin when handling the affairs of someone who has died.”

As a service of The Estate Registry, Settld – along with sister service NotifyNOW – is on a mission to build efficient bereavement services for those who have to navigate end-of-life admin.

Settld’s free, secure service allows users to notify more than 1,400 service providers of a death in one go – from banks and insurers to energy firms, mobile and phone providers, subscription services, social media platforms and others.

The StartUp awards are billed as a celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship amongst early stage businesses, and offer startups an opportunity to build brand visibility and make industry connections.

Winners are chosen by a panel of judges from industry, academia and investment groups, in a selection process based on factors such as innovation, scalability, societal impact and financial performance.

Harriet Rees, CIO of Starling Bank, which supports the awards says: “Turning an idea into a successful business takes a lot of courage and dedication.

“It’s great to see so many startups thriving in these challenging economic times. Congratulations to all our winners. ”
