“Jurgen Klopp should be next England manager”…says former three lions legend

England should target Jurgen Klopp as their next manager, according to a former Three Lions legend.

Viv Anderson says the ex-Liverpool manager is the “perfect man” to replace Gareth Southgate.

Viv, who won 30 caps for England, is now a leading diversity and inclusion speaker and has been watching the tournament closely.

Speaking ahead of the make-or-break semi final against Holland he said: “I know Jurgen has said he wants to take some time out from football, but if there is any way of persuading him he would be the perfect fit for the job.

“He’s been in England for nine years, knows all of the players in the Premier League, and the players would respect him from day one. Whatever happens I suspect this will be Gareth’s last tournament in the dugout. Klopp gets my vote.”

Meanwhile Viv has urged England to go for it in the semi-final, saying they have the ability to win the game, and then go on and lift the trophy on Sunday.

Outlining who he’d pick in his starting eleven, the former Manchester United, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest defender said: “I don’t see many changes being made, but I would expect us to stick to three at the back. It suits us so much better, I think. I expect Guehi to come back in for Konsa but Shaw to come in back at left wing back, instead of Trippier  The rest stays the same from his starting 11 in the Switzerland match. I think we had a better shape with the back three.”

Explaining how he’d like to see England take on the match he said: “I think Gareth just has to let his flair players express themselves from the start of the match, just like Saka did in the Switzerland match. That’s why he was man of the match. I expect either him or Kane to be the match winners for England.”

But despite his optimism, Viv says Holland poses many threats.

“Gapko is a handful,” he said. “He’s scored a lot of goals in the tournament so far. And I like Simons, he looks very lively. I also like the look of Reijnders in midfield and of course in Van Dijk, Holland boast one of the world’s best defenders. But I think England can win the game and, ultimately, go on and win the tournament. Let’s be positive.”
