A Country Pub in Battle, East Sussex is making the most of it’s railway setting by bringing seasonal cheer to locals with a host of cheerful charity events, and locals are loving it.

The Railway pub has been playing host to a unique ‘Santa Express’ event from 1st of December, running every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday until Christmas eve.  With a wonderland setting, lights, Santa and a very special set, it’s something way outside the norm and drawing ‘ooohs’ and ‘aaaahs’ from families of all ages.

Doors open from 4 pm till 8 pm, and the Santa Express is all about making memories and taking photos whilst making your way to visit Santa in his grotto, with platforms to stop and take a selfie and of course to decorate gingerbread.

However, behind the plentiful fun and festivities is a truly noble purpose; the pub is running the Santa Express and other events throughout the festive season to raise funds for Children with Cancer UK.  Landlady, Laura Savell explains why:

“It’s a worthwhile charity anyway, but it has a special meaning for us – our 2 daughters went to school with an amazing young lady called Tilly, who has been battling acute lymphatic leukemia since she was 6.  She is now 9 and her dad is full of praise for the excellent support they have provided to Tilly and the family as a whole.

“A lot of the news lately has been full of negativity, and of course, people are struggling – we wanted to bring some fun, Christmas spirit and cheer for local families as well as supporting this truly fantastic charity.

In addition, the pub will also be hosting a small Christmas market on the 17th of December and from 9 December, families can enjoy breakfast with Santa (booking required).
