Margaret Thornby’s Tea & Tea Room Talk Magazine

Welcome to the Charitea Section of the tea & Tearoom talk Website

TEA magazine is now able to offer good tea experiences to people who may not otherwise get this through donations from the Portmeirion Group Limited and the London Teapot Company. Both companies responded to our requests for help to set up our travelling tea room, which will visit older people in residential care as well as groups of disabled people.

Portmeirion Group Ltd kindly donated 80 plates in 2 different sizes with the distinctive green Portmeirion design around the edges, whilst London Teapot Company donated 12 Chatsford™ teapots, with internal strainers. This means that we can launch the travelling tea room, getting ‘proper’, loose leaf tea out to people who may have little chance to visit tea rooms and savour the pleasures that those of us who can do this so enjoy. The visits will include a good cup of tea, of course, along with other activities according to the wishes of the groups – this could be cakes, afternoon teas, tea quizzes, making cards with tea designs, tea and reminiscence …

If other companies out there are interested in donating items – cakes, card making kits with tea design ‘stickers’, loose teas, tea paraphernalia …, we’d be happy to hear from you. Or if you’d like to sponsor us to run a travelling tea room, each ‘session’ costs around £80 to deliver so all donations big or small are welcome.
